The Ghana Health Service has recorded 13 new cases of Mpox as of December 22, 2025, bringing the total number of confirmed cases nationwide to 947. The latest update was released as part of the Service’s routine public health surveillance to keep the public informed about the disease.

Mpox is known to spread mainly through close physical contact with an infected person. Health authorities say the continued detection of new cases highlights the need for increased public awareness and early reporting of symptoms across the country.

“Mpox spreads mainly through close contact with someone who has the infection,” the Ghana Health Service said in a public health update.

According to the Ghana Health Service, individuals are advised to maintain good personal hygiene and remain alert to symptoms associated with the disease. These include fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and tiredness.

The Service stressed that early detection and prompt medical attention are critical to preventing further spread and ensuring effective management of the infection.

“Protect yourself and others by maintaining good hygiene and reporting any symptoms,” the statement said.

The Ghana Health Service has therefore urged members of the public who experience any of the listed symptoms to visit the nearest health facility immediately for assessment and care. Health officials say timely reporting will help contain the disease and protect communities as the year comes to a close.
